Life Story Writer – preserving your story

Everyone has a story worth telling. But how on earth do you turn an entire life into a readable and engaging narrative?

I am Sanna Seiko Salo, a life story writer. My job is to listen to people’s stories, ask questions, delve into memories and write life stories based on them.

The Life Storyteller service captures your life story – or that of a loved one – bit by bit. We start with an interview lasting around 1.5–2 hours, during which we’ll chat about the people, events, coincidences and turning points in your life. You don’t need to prepare in any special way or remember everything in chronological order. My job is to ask the right questions and uncover the most interesting details of the story.

The interview will be recorded, and I’ll use it to craft a narrative, flowing text. You’ll receive the text to read through and check. A single session can capture a specific stage of your life, whilst several sessions can be used to build a complete biography.

The aim is to preserve a person’s own voice and stories in such a way that they will still be a joy to read decades from now.

I carry out the service myself. The interview can be arranged at your home, in another quiet location, or via a remote connection.

I will bring my own recording equipment for the interview. No special technical equipment is required from the client. For a remote interview, a working internet connection and a computer or other device suitable for video calls are required. Any video recording will be agreed separately.
