Pohjalainen Nainen – a narrative concert

A multidisciplinary concert programme

Pohjalainen Nainen is a multidisciplinary concert programme in which Eira Viitala’s poems and stories, her own music, photographic art and atmospheric lighting combine to create a moving experience.

At the heart of the concert are stories of lived experience – sensitivity and strength, love and letting go, breaking down and healing, and the courage to follow one’s own path. The poems and stories shed light on the background to the songs and bring the performers closer to the audience.

Eira Viitala, the creator of ‘Pohjalainen Nainen’, poet and lyricist, weaves the narrative through poems and spoken passages. Annu Tuohisaari is the lead vocalist, whose sensitive yet powerful interpretation gives voice to the lyrics. The musical ensemble may be complemented by other musicians and guest artists. Photographs by, amongst others, Taru Rantala, Sami Säily and Jukka Risikko.

The concert is suitable for cultural centres, churches, concert halls, festivals, as well as corporate and community events.

The scope of the performance, the line-up of performers, the focus of the programme and the technical implementation are planned in consultation with the client, depending on the nature of the event and the available space.

Technical requirements

The client must provide a projector and screen or other display suitable for showing photographs and other visual material, as well as a sound system and microphones suitable for speech, singing and music.

The technical arrangements will be agreed in more detail with the client depending on the venue and the nature of the event.
