Rukkanen
There are two performers in the play.
Rukkanen is a hilarious and adventurous silent play in which an ordinary ragamuffin leads a very unusual life! When Rukkanen comes to life, a fast-paced journey begins, taking him from a puddle to the deck of a pirate ship – and finally to the sparkling depths of space.
Along the way, they encounter not only pirates and hobby horses, but also everyday challenges: how can you brush your teeth when the temptation to brush everything else is overwhelming, and how can you smoothly put on a shirt with far too many sleeves?
Rukkanen is a wordless children's theatre performance that transforms familiar everyday situations into playful adventures and invites children and adults alike to see everyday life from a new perspective. Through puppetry and physical expression, objects – shoes, spoons and even puddles – come to life and reveal the power of a child's imagination. This fun, touching and relatable performance offers children the opportunity to recognise their own feelings. For adults, it serves as a gentle reminder of how big and significant even the smallest challenges can be for children. Expect a warm and laughter-filled moment where the whole family can dive into the wonderful world of a child's imagination. The performance is part of the City of Helsinki's Children's Culture for Everyone campaign. It has been supported by the Brita Maria Renlund Foundation, thanks to which it is being taken to reception centres throughout southern Finland.
The performance is wordless, so all children and adults can enjoy it regardless of language. This makes it ideal for a multilingual audience. Recommended age: 3-8 years old
