My Cat’s Nine Lives

Etualalla sumeita pahvista leikattuja kissahahmoja ja niiden taustalla henkilö, josta näkyy silmät ja harmaa peruukki.
Tuomo Railo's delightful monologue is based on T.S. Eliot's beloved cat-themed poems. The narrator, played by Railo, an elderly cat fan named Mr Tassukainen, sits down with his audience and announces: "I've moved here!" He asks the audience about their pets and steers the conversation towards cats. He talks about how difficult it is to name a cat and how to address a cat, and then begins to tell wild stories about his own cat Hermione and her siblings, relatives and acquaintances. The psychological precision of T.S. Eliot's poems and the rhymes in Jaakko Yli-Juonikas's translation (Kissojen kielen kompasanakirja, Otava 2018) delight both children and adults alike. Texts: T.S. Eliot (translated by Jaakko Yli-Juonikas)
