A Moment of Korea – 2-hour workshop

Kuvassa tehdään korealaisia kirjaimia.
A Moment of Korea is a two-hour participatory and experiential workshop that offers a gentle and practical introduction to Korean culture. The workshop combines hands-on activities, cultural learning and a shared experience. It is suitable for all age groups and requires no prior experience of calligraphy, Hangeul or creative work.

During the workshop, participants will be introduced to the Korean Hangeul writing system, try their hand at simple calligraphic characters and create their own small piece, such as a card or a name tag. Participants will also have the opportunity to try on traditional hanbok clothing in a safe and supervised environment. The workshop offers a peaceful space to pause, learn something new and share a cultural moment together.

The workshop is led by Jiyeon Lee, a teacher of Korean language and culture who has been teaching in Finland for four years, and Kirsi Mustalahti, Honorary Consul of Korea and Master of Theatre Arts. Together, they bring both cultural depth and pedagogical sensitivity to the workshop, ensuring a safe, enriching and inclusive experience for all participants.

A Moment of Korea offers participants a unique opportunity to explore Korean culture through multiple senses and with a low threshold. The workshop combines hands-on activities, cultural learning and shared experiences in a way that supports well-being, inclusion and cultural understanding.

Calligraphy and Hangeul writing enhance concentration, fine motor skills and creative expression. Trying on a hanbok, meanwhile, offers an experiential and joyful moment that reveals cultural meanings in a tangible and safe way.

The workshop is suitable for a wide range of groups – young people, adults, seniors, multicultural communities and workplaces – and can be held in various venues.
