Recorder Guru is a fast-paced, surprising and cheerful solo concert that will change the audience’s perceptions of the recorder. Professional recorder player Eero Saunamäki reveals the instrument’s secrets and takes the audience on a journey from the Middle Ages to the courts of the Baroque era and on to the present day, through captivating music, stories, humour and demonstrations of the instrument.
The concert features recorders of various sizes and from different eras, and the acoustic performance is occasionally combined with electronics and looping. The performance is suitable for audiences of all ages and can be tailored to venues such as concert halls, libraries, schools, cultural centres or events.
The performance is delivered by a single performer, Eero Saunamäki. The duration of the performance can be agreed upon according to the client’s needs, typically lasting around 20–45 minutes.

Technical requirements
Electricity on stageThe Recorder Guru can be performed in a wide variety of indoor venues. It is advisable to set aside an area of approximately 3 × 3 metres or more for the performance, as well as a power socket near the performance area. No blackout or special stage lighting is required; good general lighting is sufficient.
The performer brings their own instruments, microphones and any electronic equipment needed for the performance. If the venue has its own sound system, this may be used. If necessary, the performance can also be carried out using the performer’s own sound system. More specific technical details will be agreed upon depending on the venue and audience size.
