Performance aimed at senior citizens
May I? is a travelling theatre performance aimed at senior citizens, whose main purpose is to bring joy, nostalgia and experiences to elderly people who are no longer able to go to the theatre on their own. It is a love story filled with sung music and live sound effects, in which young factory workers Aino and Martti prepare for Saturday night dancing after their working day. The work is set in the early 1950s, just when post-war Finland was being rebuilt and our now mature audience members were experiencing the thrill of first love. Professional actors Jari and Petra carry the story through spoken dialogue and songs, and Finland's leading professional DJ Juissi creates a powerful atmosphere with a changing soundscape.
The work is not participatory, except at the end, where the audience can join in the last waltz of Saturday evening, depending on their condition.
