Tanssiteatteri Tsuumi is a Helsinki-based dance theatre company with strong roots in folk tradition, rough and humanistic dance theatre company that draws its strength from archaic roots and draws inspiration from the surrounding world. Dance Theatre Tsuumi creates diverse performing arts with an emphasis on the synthesis of dance and music, movement and rhythm. A special part of Tsuumi's activities has always been its strong collaboration with Finnish new folk music artists. Tsuumi is rooted in Finnishness, tradition and knowledge of our history, but always with an eye towards new and vibrant artistic work and experimentation. On this basis, Dance Theatre Tsuumi has produced around seventy different full-length dance and theatre works. Tsuumi produces 2–3 premieres each year and participates in collaborative productions with, among others, major theatres in Finland. Its performance activities consist of premieres, new seasons of old works and tours.
