Pohjalainen Nainen – a visual poetry concert
When words become music
Pohjalainen Nainen is a multidisciplinary concert programme in which Eira Viitala’s poems and stories, music, photographic art and atmospheric lighting combine to create a moving experience.
At the heart of the concert are stories of lived experience: sensitivity and strength, love and letting go, breaking and healing, and the courage to follow one’s own path. The poems and stories shed light on the background to the songs and forge a connection between the performers and the audience.
Eira Viitala, the creator of ‘Pohjalainen Nainen’, poet and lyricist, weaves the narrative through poems and spoken passages. Annu Tuohisaari is the lead vocalist, whose sensitive yet powerful interpretation brings the lyrics to life. The musical ensemble is complemented by other musicians and performers, depending on the occasion.
The visual world, photographs and atmospheric lighting deepen the experience conveyed by the music and lyrics.
The concert is suitable for cultural centres, churches, concert halls, festivals, and larger events organised by companies and organisations.
The scope of the performance, the line-up of performers and the technical set-up are planned in consultation with the client, depending on the nature of the event and the available venue.
