Django Collective Helsinki takes its audience on a journey back a hundred years to the backstreets of Paris, through the wars and to the birth of a new genre of European music. The four-piece band tells the inspiring story of survival of Django Reinhardt, one of the world’s most acclaimed guitarists.

Django did not lose heart even though he was involved in an accident just as his international career was taking off, at the age of just 18. In the fire, he lost almost all function in his left hand. Thanks to his boundless willpower, however, he went on to become the world’s finest guitarist – even playing with just two fingers, despite his disability. The Jazz Manouche style – Django’s gift to European and global musical culture – is brought to life through lively, virtuosic and swinging performances.
