The Metsän tuntu (Feeling of the Forest) photo exhibition showed what Finnish forests used to be like and what they could be like again without turbocharged forestry. The real forest can be found in the mystical corners of the forest, the home of shy inhabitants and exciting travellers. In the real forest, you can sense the forest people, elves and fairies, just like our ancestors did in their time. The exhibition toured two locations in Helsinki, Lempäälä and Hämeenlinna, at the galleries of Finnfoto ry, which represents the Finnish photography industry. Finnish Landscape was a publishing project by our country's leading professional nature photographers, which was realised in many different media and events. The backbone of the project was a four-part book series entitled Suomalainen maisema (Finnish Landscape), published by Docendo. The project was a publication project by Finnish professional nature photographers in honour of 100 years of Finnish independence, and it was part of the official Suomi 100v. programme.

The My Landscape competition was a success story that grew into what is believed to be the world's second largest nature photography competition. A total of 43,904 landscape photos from 313 different locations were uploaded to the competition by 7,594 photographers. The photos received 1,018,471 votes, and the competition website was visited 2,181,341 times. Quite an achievement by Finnish photographers!
The theme of the photo competition was Finnish landscapes, and the competition worked closely with TV-1. The best photos of the month were announced monthly on TV. The My Landscape photo competition was also part of the programme for the centenary of Finnish independence.
