Oulu’s oldest – and perhaps most entertaining – theatre

Oulun Työväen Näyttämö, or OTN, is Oulu’s oldest theatre. Founded in 1902, the theatre has over 120 years of stories behind it, but its focus is firmly on the present day.

Today, OTN is a vibrant amateur theatre, specialising in comedies and farces, thrillers and suspense plays, as well as shows for the whole family. With us, you’ll have a good laugh, find yourself on the edge of your seat, and perhaps even be moved from time to time.

We’re based in Intiö, Oulu, in a former military cinema located on the site of old barracks, where we have a 130-seat auditorium.

Impromania – nothing is planned in advance

Impromania is a community of over 60 improvisers at OTN. We do short and long-form improv, musical improv, performances, gigs, courses and workshops.

During our performances, suggestions from the audience are transformed into scenes, characters, stories and songs right there and then. There is no script, and nobody knows in advance what will happen next – not even the performers.

Impromania can be booked to perform at parties, staff days and events, or to run participatory improvisation workshops. The workshops provide a fun, hands-on way to practise skills such as interaction, listening, cooperation and letting go.
