Maija Rautasuo
Koloratuurisopraano Maija Rautasuo
Uusimaa, Vantaa
I am a singer and music teacher whose work combines a strong command of classical singing, a diverse repertoire and an interest in various performance formats. I perform as a singer in opera, art song, orchestral music and concerts, and I also design and produce my own concert programmes.
My particular area of expertise is opera, where I work with both classical and more contemporary Finnish and international repertoire. I also have experience of world premieres and Finnish-language opera productions. I enjoy creating thematic and narrative concert programmes in which the music forms a cohesive whole that is accessible and engaging for the audience.
As a performer, I am equally at home in large concert halls as well as in smaller, more intimate venues. As a singer, I always perform with a pianist and, where necessary, with other instrumentalists and ensembles. As a music teacher, I teach singing and draw on both my experience as a performer and as an educator in my work. I hold a Master’s degree in Music (opera), a qualification as a music teacher and a Master’s degree in Education.
