Katri Oikarinen

Hyvinkää, Uusimaa

I am a multidisciplinary artist and entrepreneur working in the visual arts, design and music. My main work is divided between these areas, but sometimes I also combine them into multisensory entities. My work consists of artistic creation, projects utilising design and music, leading workshops and courses, and live performances. I operate under my own brand, Katri Oikarinen Art & Design, where I utilise recycled and natural materials in both my artwork and the products I design. My creative tools range from a writer's pen to a guillotine and from a guitar to a chainsaw. I utilise old books, wood and paper in my artistic work, and in my latest projects I have combined the visual and auditory worlds with instruments I have designed myself. The nature of my work is organically progressive, creating new ideas and concepts. My work is increasingly focused on people and communities, in the form of collaborative projects and other projects that foster a sense of community.

Customer references

Hyvinkää City Summer Artist 2025:
I organised open art and music-focused workshops for different age groups, from children to the elderly. The workshops provided an opportunity to learn about different materials and working methods, from the use of recycled materials to chainsawing.
I also organised a chainsaw show at the Hyvinkää market square, as well as other performative and surprising interventions around Hyvinkää . Among other things, I served tea and songs to passers-by in the shopping centre lobby and brought a bonfire to the library square, where we sang campfire songs and grilled sausages with the townspeople. The main focus was on creating communal, creative and surprising experiences.

Kuivanmaan majakka 2024: I built a playground on the Knehtilä organic farm using recycled materials found on the farm.

ParantolaJamit city festival production in Hyvinkää 2025: Parantolajamit is Hyvinkää's own free city festival, which brings together music, theatre, workshops and a flea market in the historic Parantola Park. The core of the event is community spirit – the joy of doing things together. Katri O and Solina collaboration (March 2024 – May 2025) I produced a multidisciplinary performance in collaboration with the women's choir Solina
in 2025: The project was carried out as a reciprocal exchange: I designed and produced the choir's 40th anniversary necklace, Laulun siivin (On the Wings of Song), and the choir performed songs from my upcoming album, singing the parts I had composed.
