J-P Piirainen weaves together Finnish tradition, guitar music and his unique sound as a composer in the 2020s. In search of unprecedented music, he has forged his own path by developing the guitele, a one-of-a-kind instrument that combines an acoustic guitar and the traditional Finnish kantele into a single instrument. One of the world's most popular and common instruments meets a traditional instrument that embodies Finnish mythology and history. Skilful guitar playing combines with the striking sound of the kantele to create a whole new musical world. J-P Piirainen's music paints a picture of both the modern world and the ancient tranquillity of the Karelian forests. J-P Piirainen has performed in small clubs and large concert halls throughout Finland and has toured in Germany, Japan and Estonia, among other countries. Recently, he has collaborated with singer/beatboxer Venla Ilona Blom (Tuuletar, among others), accordionist Viivi Maria Saarenkylä (Vildá) and others.
