I am a ryijy artist from Helsinki and hold a PhD in art. I have studied textile, photography and contemporary art (Aalto University, Turku Academy of Arts, Paris 8 University). My doctoral thesis (2022) examined the role of inspiration in the creative process, with Teemu Mäki acting as my opponent.

Drawing on my experience as a researcher, I immerse myself thoroughly in every project and am particularly inspired by site-specific initiatives. The years I spent in Paris and Brussels, as well as my background in fashion and textile design, are reflected in the colour and material-driven nature of my works.

My works have been widely exhibited in Finland, for example at EMMA, the Design Museum, the Finnish Craft Museum, the Ostrobothnian Museum and the Lokal Gallery. Internationally, my work has been shown at venues including the Comfort Mental gallery in Paris and the Finnish Institute in France, the Snow Gallery in Berlin, Schloss Hollenegg in Austria, Milan Design Week, and the Collectible fair in Brussels.

My works are included in public collections, such as the National Gallery, Kunsthalle Helsinki and the Design Museum, as well as in private collections in Europe, the United States, Japan and the United Arab Emirates. I have been awarded, among others, the Auno and Mauri Riutu Foundation Prize and the ICMA Award of Excellence, and my collection of ryijy rugs has been honoured at New York Textile Month.

My speciality is thick, animal-themed ryijy rugs. Alongside these, I work in textile design, ceramics, design glass artworks and curate exhibitions.
