MY FRIEND THE OCTOPUS
Scientist Iisak Atom has a new subject of study in his aquarium – an OCTOPUS!
We humans have one brain, but octopuses have nine – one in their head and one in each of their tentacles. So, is an octopus smarter than a human? Iisak Atomi has decided to find out. However, Mimo the octopus has other plans – he longs to return to the sea, to the embrace of the waves…
“MY FRIEND THE OCTOPUS” is a heart-warming portrayal of respect for the wild and an understanding of diversity. Combining clowning, puppetry, contemporary dance and storytelling, the play invites the audience to marvel at the diversity of nature.
The source of inspiration for the performance is the enigmatic figure of the octopus. The octopus tastes with its skin, changes colour, uses tools and solves problems. It has a weakness for delicacies and an endless longing for freedom! Will it eventually manage to return to its home, the depths of the sea? And can a human and an octopus… become friends?
The performance supports nature education in nurseries and schools. We provide teachers with a resource pack that allows the play to be seamlessly integrated into the curriculum.
‘MY FRIEND THE OCTOPUS’ is best suited for children aged 3–9. It is also possible to book a creative movement workshop (for children aged 5 and over) to accompany the play, which introduces children to the underwater world.

Technical requirements
The theatre brings its own sound equipment: if necessary, the equipment can be charged in advance (in which case no power sockets are required).The performance can be staged using the venue’s own ceiling lights.
