STOP MOTION ANIMATION WORKSHOP
There are no limits to creating animated films! You can travel from the bottom of the sea to outer space in a matter of seconds – at no cost. What’s more, it’s like a Kinder Egg; you create a story, bring characters to life and make a film to which you can add sound and music.
The aim of the course is to equip participants with the knowledge to create animated content in a simple way. It is also an effective way to understand how the medium of film works.
Participants will learn the difference between 2D animation (e.g. cartoons) and 3D animation (e.g. puppets). In 2D animation, the cut-out technique is used, where pupils can cut out figures from paper and animate them against a background. In 3D animation, modelling clay, puppets or objects are used.
Why work with animation in schools?
– Easy to adapt – all you need is a mobile phone or tablet.
– Accessible to everyone – regardless of age, language, background or ability.
– Opportunity to remain anonymous – the person creating the film does not need to appear on screen.
– Creates a unique universe – pupils can build their own worlds and stories.
– And most importantly – it’s great fun!
The workshop is suitable for everyone in school from Year 3 upwards, in both primary and secondary schools. It can be adapted to a specific subject and inspire teachers to work across subjects and deepen pupils’ understanding in a creative, playful and engaging way through animation. The workshop is also suitable as part of adult education, in art groups or as part of an event.
