The improvisation group Improaalto comprises three theatre professionals and two musicians. On stage, the charming actors Rami Mäkilaine, Tapani “Tapsa” Korhonen and Juulia Mäkilaine (née Soidinaho) take turns to entertain, whilst the music is provided by the nimble-fingered Jaakko Elenius and Tuomo Tiitinen.
Improaalto is known for its fast-paced and energetic performances, in which humour takes centre stage. The actors throw themselves wholeheartedly into a variety of sketches and strive to take them in unexpected directions. No stone is left unturned as the actors entertain both each other and the audience.
WHAT IS IMPROVISATION?
Improvisation is a form of performance that takes place right there and then, in that very moment, involving interaction with the audience as various sketches are performed. Improvisation is based on living in the moment and embracing it. Laughter arises when the actors throw themselves wholeheartedly into the topics, situations and roles requested by the audience.
WHAT DO THE PERFORMANCES INCLUDE?
Improaalto tailors a performance programme to suit your event according to your wishes. Sketches are selected to suit the nature of the occasion. For example, a client might request sketches suited to the content of a training day. Improaalto’s actors interact with the audience, asking them for topics and locations to form the basis of the sketches. The actors listen closely to the mood of the audience and, with a delicate touch, guide the audience towards a fun experience. The duration of the performance varies according to the client’s wishes, ranging from around 30 minutes to 90 minutes. Improaalto is known for its improvised songs in various genres, which the audience can suggest to the actors.
