I write and speak for a living, largely on two subjects: music and nature. More specifically, classical music – particularly Bach – as well as mushrooms and birds. I write non-fiction books, magazine articles and reviews, run courses and excursions, give lectures and present concerts.
My Master’s degree in musicology gave me the tools to understand music. At the same time, it gave me the tools to tackle subjects such as edible mushrooms.
I enjoy combining unlikely things – such as Bach and cycling – and I love people who want to learn new things. I’m happy in the mushroom forest, but I can certainly cope with human civilisation too!

I have written around ten books. Most are non-fiction, but there is also a collection of poetry. My guidebook *Matkaopas Matteuspassioon* (A Guide to the St Matthew Passion) won the *Karjalainen* newspaper’s ‘Cultural Achievement of the Year 2020’ award. Personally, I am perhaps most fond of the book *Bach ja pyöräilyn taito* (Bach and the Art of Cycling, 2025), in which I discuss music, cycling, nature and Finland.
