Savonlinna, South Savo

The Association for Participatory Arts offers community-based and participatory art activities and performances. The association aims to promote the well-being and sense of community among children, young people, adults and families in its home town, neighbouring areas and nationwide through the means of participatory art.

The association comprises various practitioners of participatory art, including a storytelling theatre, clowning and improvisation group in Savonlinna.

Our activities range from organising community events to performances that engage the audience. Everyone is welcome to take part in our arts-based activities, regardless of their skills or previous experience. In participatory arts, art is created in a holistic way through various art forms, such as visual arts, music, drama, dance or writing. Art then serves as a tool through which we can share our human experiences. The process is valuable in itself, and the end result does not necessarily have to be a permanent work of art.
Through art, we can escape the reality of everyday life into a space where anything is possible, where there are no mistakes or wrong answers, only new insights. Freeing the mind boosts creativity and problem-solving skills, as well as enhancing overall well-being.
