I am a jazz pianist and composer living in Loviisa. I love all musical styles, but I feel most at home in the realm of improvisation. I have studied music in both Finland and Sweden and have been performing professionally since 1997. Composing music for theatre and stage productions and performing as a session musician have gone hand in hand throughout my career, in perfect harmony.
I’m happy to perform solo gigs and, if required, can easily put together a skilled jazz duo, trio or quartet to suit the occasion and the client’s wishes. I’m bilingual and perform fluently in Finnish, Swedish and English.
Examples of concert options:
1) Katz Improv! – solo concert (duration negotiable, approx. 30–45 mins), improvised ‘lightning compositions’ based on themes suggested by the audience (€400–500)
2) Jazz concert – jazz standards, various ensemble options (e.g. piano trio: piano, drums, bass, and, if desired, a vocalist, wind player or guitarist) (€400 per musician)
3) ‘Background jazz’ – for various events, either solo or with a larger ensemble (approx. €400 per musician)
4) Light music cover gig – taking the client’s wishes into account, the ‘human jukebox’ can play almost anything. Various line-ups (€400 per musician)
5) Commissioned compositions for various purposes, e.g. works of performing art, adverts/background music. Price to be agreed on a case-by-case basis.
