Epic Scape

Espoo, Uusimaa

Epic Scape is a browser-based adventure: players move around in a real-world environment and solve location-based puzzles. The game opens directly in the mobile browser via a QR code, without the need for an app or registration, and is free of charge for players. The client receives a bespoke trail for their own venue: an exhibition, museum, library, festival, park or town centre.

The trail is always built around the venue’s own content. The script is developed in collaboration with the client so that the puzzles are based on the venue’s story, artefacts and spaces. The game also features browser-based AR. It runs independently without the need for staff supervision.

The client is provided with a dedicated admin dashboard displaying anonymised data on visitors’ routes, playtime, puzzles solved and the use of hints, as well as automatically generated weekly reports and a final report. Cultural organisations thus gain measurable insights into audience movement and dwell time at the venue.

Delivery is available as a monthly subscription, including short-term packages for events and campaigns. Building a new trail on the ready-made platform is quick, so implementations can be scaled to suit even small budgets. Founder Jyri Puhakka has fifteen years’ experience in teaching and has studied theoretical philosophy: the pedagogical and dramaturgical quality of the content is an integral part of the product.
