Tatu Mönttinen graduated with a Master’s degree in Theatre Arts from the Theatre Academy in 2008. Versatile, spontaneous, energetic and always cheerful, Tatu has taken on a truly wide range of acting roles throughout his career. He has been a permanent member of the cast at Oulu City Theatre, Kouvola Theatre, Lahti City Theatre and Lappeenranta City Theatre. Now working as a freelancer, Mönttinen is an imaginative, proactive and creative artist who is not afraid to embark on new projects and experiment with different approaches. As a freelancer, she has taken part in numerous independent theatre productions and created two monologues of her own. A third is already in the works. In addition to his acting career, Tatu has worked as a producer, scriptwriter and director of ‘Karanteeniteatteri’, the streaming theatre he founded.

‘Jackpot’ explores gambling addiction both from the gambler’s perspective and as a social phenomenon. It tells an honest story of addiction and overcoming it. The production is topical and documentary-style, with the material based on true events. It features alternative narrative paths, with the audience deciding the outcome by voting. The performance vividly brings to life the suffering, anxiety and shame caused by gambling addiction, whilst at the same time offering hope. It helps us to understand the experiences of those suffering from gaming addiction.
