The Tampere Artists’ Association is Finland’s second-oldest association of professional artists still in operation. The association has over 300 members. Its statutory aim is to promote the visual arts and support the work of artists. The Society acts as an advocacy organisation for artists in the Pirkanmaa region, and through national federations, throughout Finland as a whole. We aim to offer the public high-quality visual art content and to develop and promote opportunities for artists to practise their craft.

Around two-thirds of the Artists’ Association’s members also belong to a national professional organisation for visual artists, such as the Finnish Printmakers’ Association, the Finnish Sculptors’ Association, the Finnish Painters’ Association, the Finnish Photographers’ Association or Muu ry.

The Society’s operational centre is the Mältinranta Art Centre, whose two galleries – Galleria and Studio Mältinranta – showcase contemporary art in exhibitions that change every four weeks. The Mältinranta Art Centre is also home to the Art Lending Library, whose extensive collection for sale features visual art from the Pirkanmaa region by professional visual artists from the Tampere Artists’ Association.

The art centre also houses the Tampere Artists’ Association’s office and workspaces for visual artists.

The Tampere Artists’ Association manages the Tampere Studio House and the Takahuhdi Art Centre.
