Anne Välinoro

Kulttuuriosuuskunta Kiito

Pirkanmaa, Tampere

Anne Välinoro, (BA)
cultural journalist and director, is a multi-talented figure in the performing arts. I have a long career behind me as a culture journalist at Aamulehti (1995–2017).
I currently work at the Kiito Cultural Cooperative, Kiito.fi, and take my productions to places where residents find it difficult to access cultural services.
I am also the editor of the kulttuuritoimitus.fi website, which is open to everyone, and I write all kinds of pieces (news, features, essays, interviews, columns) on various topics, but particularly on culture. I have been able to fund my work there over recent years through working grants from various foundations.
There, you can read, for example, about Finnish premieres at theatres across the country in the ‘Finland Worth Telling’ series, running from 1 September 2024 to 31 May 2025, which I produced with a working grant from the Finnish Cultural Foundation. Prior to that, with support from Taike, I had the opportunity to write a major series of articles on new productions by regional opera companies, from *The Barber of Seville* to *Kålkkobrah* in Kokkola in the autumn of 2023; and in late 2025, with a grant from the Kordelin Foundation, I wrote a series of articles entitled *Whose Songs Do I Sing?* – on the need for young Finnish music theatre makers in the performing arts.
I also contribute articles to Rondo, a magazine on the performing arts.

I also write for the performing arts magazine Rondo, the Aamulehti newspaper and, for example, this Eastern Finnish cultural publication, IÄNI.
I have made short films (The Woman to Whom the Tree Spoke, 2024, 37 mins; *Rinnat* (2021, 7 mins.; *Savonlinnan parturi* (2020, 27 mins.) and *Karvan verran* (2018, 20 mins.)) and one-person performances (*Kotileikki* (2021) and *Kasvokkain* (2020)),
I have taken my performances to over two hundred care homes, museums, festivals, theatres, village halls and towns, including abroad.
I have produced dozens of cultural events. Most recently, together with the Zonta Club of Iisalmi, I organised the ‘Does the Forest Need a Protector?’ event on 14 March 2026, which featured, at my request, panellists including Minister Sari Essayah and author Teemu Kaskinen.
